| Did I mention that I have fulfilled my first summons as a Colorado State Juror? I made the final 12, but not the final 6...not that I'm complaining. | | |
| It's odd how the bigger my to-do list gets the easier it is to fall into doing absolutely nothing.
Let the battle of summer begin.
| Apparently I am one of the only ones in the existence of this universe who is able to find the comedy in the mating systems of giraffes, but I guess that's one more point for me, and many more laughs.
So I am home in Colorado for a bit. My brother is getting married on June 17th, and I'm involved in all that hubbub. I'm the maid of honor who thought I had a no-fail plan for an amazing bachelorette party, but that's fallen through. If you've any ideas on how to salvage/replace my good idea, let me know.
I fly out for Maine on June 20th. I called the organization today to get more information about what exactly I'll be doing this summer, but only left a message. They called back while I was out hiking, and my mom said they told me to check online for an application if I wanted to work this summer. Hmmm. Considering I've already applied and been hired, not exactly what I wanted to hear. Oh well, I'm still super stoked to be going to Maine at all, regardless of what I'll be doing. At this point, I'm hoping for whatever work I'll be doing to be icing on the cake (which it should be, given all the poking around I've done online about the organization).
And that's about all I've got for now. Oh, except for that a new unrated double disk set of the Boondock Saints is supposed to be released tomorrow. That's exciting. Oh (again), I saw a rattlesnake on my hike today!
| Giraffe Mating Systems
"In summary, giraffes are promiscuous, with no long-term relationships observed between males and females. Males wander through their home ranges looking for females and testing their receptiveness through flehmen. Males prefer young females who are in estrus, and females prefer older, dominant males."
